Backup registrar server

Postby yesmat » Thu Jan 20, 2011 6:59 am

Hi,

We are looking to configure a backup Asterisk registrar server for a customer and would like to configure the phones as follows:

1- All phones register with the Primary Asterisk server
2- All phones register with the Secondary Asterisk server when they detect that the Primary server is not available anymore
3- Continue to monitor the availability of Primary Asterisk server, once the Primary server is fixed and became available again the phones should revert back to registering to that server and drop off the secondary server.

I understand that these phones have primary and backup outbound proxy but this is different from primary and backup sip / registrar servers.

i also understand that the way to implement that is by using DNS / SRV, but this means that all the ip phones in the organisation will have the same primary and backup servers, while in our case we need each site to have different backup server.

is there any comments on this issue?

Thanks

Hi Yesmat,

This feature is not currently available but it something that the developers are looking into. So should be included in a 'future' release of the T-2x Firmware.

Thanks
